Objectives
We were enlisted to source a VP of Marketing to run all marketing functions within the business. This person needed to be well rounded and excel in lead generation and growth. Their role involved working closely with the VP of Sales, ensuring a seamless alignment between marketing and sales efforts.
Challenges
The client was gearing up to launch their new technology product for smart home energy solutions and automation. Given the novelty of the technology, there was a strong emphasis on focusing efforts in this area. After a successful customer trial period they also recognised the necessity for a comprehensive strategy and analytical approach for launch and sought to bring in an experienced marketing individual who had previously worked in a prominent energy or technology firm.
Our Solutions
The Search
Using our precise talent mapping analysis and extensive executive network, we meticulously mapped and shortlisted prospective candidates focusing on the energy and technology sectors. We also conducted market mapping and competitor analysis, even uncovering information that the client was not aware of.
Ongoing Support
We provided comprehensive support to the client by offering live market insights, competitor analysis, and salary bench marking. Our team also held weekly progress calls and reports to keep the client informed of the ongoing developments. Given that this was the first hire of its kind in the business, we offered extensive guidance and direction on defining the role and its requirements. To ensure accuracy and reliability, we leveraged our own marketing function to cross-reference information and ensure the best possible outcomes for the client.
Overcoming Difficulties
We encountered challenges as some candidates found the role unappealing due to its early-stage nature. Finding candidates who were interested in the packages on offer posed difficulties. To address this, we engaged in negotiations with both the client and the final candidate outside of regular hours, including weekends, to successfully close the deal and secure acceptance of the offer.
